Opportunities to Help JGD Expand
Jail Guitar Doors continues to provide rehabilitative music programs during the pandemic to our brothers and sisters who are currently housed in correctional facilities across the country. Now, more than ever, these vital programs serve as a lifeline for incarcerated individuals who are adversely impacted by lockdowns and program cutbacks. JDG programs sustain momentum for our dedicated group of teachers and facilitators, many of whom are graduates of our songwriting workshops and are now returned citizens - passing on their music workshop skills to the greater community and mentoring program participants.
We are expanding our mission
In order to end the cradle to prison pipeline. Jail Guitar Doors is moving beyond correctional facilities and into the community. We created C.A.P.O. (Community Arts Programming & Outreach) to teach at-risk youth positive ways to channel creative expression through music education classes in songwriting, recording, and producing. C.A.P.O.’s classes, workshops, rehearsal, and recording sessions are led by industry professionals and occur after-school and on nights and weekends. Participants will receive instruction in music production, engineering, composition and arranging, recording and editing, licensing marketing, and promotions, and digital design.
We Need Your Help!
We are working hard to launch our first C.A.P.O. CENTER as a multipurpose classroom and performance space and community center. The Center will include rehearsal space, a state-of-the-art recording studio, a computer lab, a common area, a kitchen, and a bathroom.
